A/Prof Jarrod Trevathan works in intelligent Internet of Things technologies and ecommerce security and fraud algorithms. He has undertaken projects on cost-effective technologies for smart water quality assessment and flood monitoring, agriculture sensor networks, and remote wildlife monitoring.
A/Prof Trevathan is leading industry and community collaborative projects that seek to integrate technology, social enterprise and community engagement to improve environmental outcomes. This is particularly the case with water resource monitoring and disaster management (for which he has won significant community awards/grants and prestigious Australian Research Council (ARC) funding).

M A Hakim Newton is a Lecturer in Data Science in the School of Information and Physical Sciences at the University of Newcastle, Australia. He is also an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow with the Institute for Integrated and Intelligent Systems (IIIS), Griffith University, Australia. Newton received the B.Sc.Engg. and M.Sc.Engg. degrees from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and the Ph.D. degree from Strathclyde University, U.K. He was a Research Engineer at the National ICT Australia (NICTA). His research interests include artificial intelligence, intelligent search, machine learning, bioinformatics, and computer education research.

Dr. Ashfaqur lead the ‘Sensor Data Analytics’ team in CSIRO. The team consists of data scientists who specializes in development of machine learning algorithms for transforming sensor data into decisions by integrating cross-disciplinary knowledge. Our key research area is Applied Machine Learning with strong focus on Agriculture and Mining applications. Some key research work by his team involves:
Livestock behavior modelling using machine learning algorithms from on-body sensors. This is useful for understanding feed intake, feed conversion ratios, birth difficulty, and health issues that drives efficient management practices. The works are done in collaboration with CSIRO Ag & Food
Data driven decision support for aquaculture. A range of works under this umbrella involves development of machine learning algorithms to understand key water quality factors affecting harvest, factors affecting closure in prawn ponds, and environmental impact of oyster physiology. The works are done in collaboration with other Data61 teams and CSIRO Ag & Food
Integration and exploration of multi modal data sources for effective data mining to identify mineral deposits. The works are done in collaboration with CSIRO Mineral Resources
Adoption of Neural Network on volumetric data for grade engineering. The works are done in collaboration with CSIRO Mineral Resources

Founding Director of the Institute for Integrated and Intelligent Systems (IIIS) at Griffith University.
Prof. Abdul Sattar is a thought-leader in the space of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science. He successfully established the Institute for Integrated and Intelligent Systems (IIIS), a cross-disciplinary research centre at Griffith University, and was appointed as its founding director in 2003, and served until end of 2015. The growth of the centre in terms of prestige, international recognition and several performance metrics including the number of publications and HDR completions has been, at least in part, a testament to the energy, academic rigour and industry engagement of its leadership.
Prof. Sattar has published over 400 research papers, and successful graduation of over 35 PhD students, with 10 research awards won by the research team under his direct leadership. During his tenure at Griffith he has received in excess of $3m through nationally competitive grant schemes, including 12 major ARC funded projects. He has forged links with NICTA and other funding bodies in our space, and played a key role in founding NICTA’s Queensland Research Laboratory (QRL). He was also a Principal Researcher in the successful bid for the CRC Smart Internet. His efforts have seen IIIS create partnerships with other areas of excellence at Griffith, playing a pivotal role in such ground-breaking areas as socially-useful robotics, bioinformatics in biosecurity and computational proteomics.
A leader in his area of expertise, Prof. Sattar contributes to the development of his field as the Steering Committee Chair of Pacific Rim International Conference in Artificial Intelligence Series (PRICAI), Executive Member of the Australian Computer Society (ACS) National Committee on Artificial Intelligence, General Chair of several national and international conferences including AI 2007, AI 2013, PRIMA 2010 and PRICAI 2010, PRICAI 2019 as well as Conference Program Committee Chairs for AI 1997, AI2006, PRICAI 2002 and TIME 2003.

Dr Andrew Moore has been working as CSIRO's Resilience Coordinator since July 2021. CSIRO has a significant portfollio of R&D directed to increasing Australia's resilience. That portfolio addresses both shorter-term, acute hazards such as bushfires and also longer-term hazards posed by changing climate and socioeconomic trends.
From 2016 to June 2021, Dr Moore was the leader of CSIRO's Digiscape Future Science Platform. He led researchers, engineers and software specialists across Australia who produced a series of next-generation decision tools for the land sector. While the Future Science Platform has concluded, CSIRO continues to drive the digitalization of agriculture and land management.

Brent Henderson is currently Group Leader of the Quantitative Risk Group within the Analytics and Decision Sciences (A&DS) Program in CSIRO Data61.
The group is focussed on improving robust and risk-based decision making in high consequence and high uncertainty settings through cutting edge data-driven analytics. This include a focus on adaptive sampling and surveillance, quanitative and probabilsitic risk assessment frameworks and decision making under uncertainty.
Application domains include environment and ecology, agriculture, biosecurity, climate resilience and crtical infrastructure.
Brent has a background in statistical science and has been working at the interface of statistical science, risk analysis and environmental and agricultural challenges within Australia for almost 20 years. He has a broad interest in delivering integrated science and specifiic technical interests spatio-temporal modelling, monitoring and survey design, reconciling data with modelled observations, multivariate analysis, risk analysis and cumulative impact analysis.

Professor Brendan Mackey is Director of the Griffith Climate Action Beacon, Griffith Climate Change Response Program, and the National Climate Change Adaptation Research Facility at Griffith University. He has a PhD in ecology from The Australian National University.
The primary foci of Professor Mackey's current research are:
* climate change adaptation and mitigation
* science-based policy for climate change, conservation and sustainable development
* the application of decision support systems to environmental problems.
He has special expertise in climate change, forest ecosystems, biodiversity conservation and terrestrial carbon dynamic and has expertise in the application of Geographical Information System, remote sensing and environmental modelling to problems of environment and climate change.
Professor Mackey is the lead on a number of externally-funded research projects, including:
* research projects in the Pacific about ecosystem based adaptation
* information systems and decision support for adaptation research projects
* primary forests and climate change research projects
* whales in a changing climate
Professor Mackey is Coordinating Lead Author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Working Group II - impacts, vulnerability & adaptation.
